Job Description

Summary/Objective

The primary function of the Manager – People Services is to perform People Services related duties on a professional level, lead People Services team members, and work closely with senior People Services and Operations management in supporting designated operational segments. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, performance management, bench planning, recruitment, onboarding, policy implementation, training, employment law compliance, benefits and leaves of absence.

Essential Functions

  1. Provides employee relations support to approximately 50-70 restaurant units and up to 10 District Managers (“DMs”); helps drive the WKS culture and bring it to life in our restaurants; advises and counsels Managers and DMs on People Services policies and procedures, documentation and disciplinary actions; escalates serious issues to People Services Director or other appropriate resource; provides direction on employee coaching and communication; builds the capability of General Managers and DMs to help them develop, manage, and lead their teams; conducts 30/60/90 day follow up with management new hires.
  2. Conducts harassment, discrimination and misconduct investigations as necessary; appropriately documents complaints and resolutions.
  3. Administers and monitors performance management and compensation programs, including bench planning, and proposes revisions as necessary; coordinates compensation changes with Director – People Services and Operations leadership to ensure informed merit increase, promotion, and salary adjustment decisions (e.g., current pay rates, past performance ratings and increases, current performance rating, proposed increase, budget, variance to budget, etc.); rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys and analyzes compensation structure.
  4. Conducts recruitment effort for management and crew positions within select operational segments, including requisitions, postings, and advertisements; screens applications and interviews applicants to match experience with specific job-related requirements; conducts reference checks and extends job offers; conducts new employee orientations; monitors career pathing program.
  5. Supports annual benefits open enrollment process; responds to inquiries from current and former employees regarding various benefits issues; serves as back-up for benefits administration; ensures leaves of absence are properly administered.
  6. Typically supervises a People Services Clerk and/or Administrator
